Michael Stanley Klecheski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Mongolia, and Deputy Public Affairs Officer John Dreher visited CITI University on 1 December 2021. They met President Ts. Baigalmaa and Vice President D. Munkhbaatar to exchange views on cooperation.

President Ts. Baigalmaa thanked Ambassador Klecheski for visiting, introduced the university’s activities, and discussed future cooperation with the embassy and links with United States universities.

The ambassador then toured the teaching facilities and classrooms, learned about educational activities and held an open discussion with students.

He introduced the United States Embassy’s policies and activities and answered students’ questions. At a time when countries had closed borders because of the pandemic and were adapting their operations, he described United States assistance to Mongolia, bilateral cooperation, health and development programmes, and particular attention to education.

Students discussed a range of topics with Ambassador Klecheski, including Millennium Challenge programmes, implementation and results, opportunities to export Mongolian goods to the United States with tariff preferences, and scholarship programmes.

Deputy Public Affairs Officer John Dreher presented opportunities and conditions for scholarship study in the United States. He provided detailed information on undergraduate study, short-term and postgraduate scholarship programmes for women, application guidance, and voluntary public organisations and information resources offering educational advice.
