An interview with E. Munkhtulga, a fourth-year Fashion Design student at CITI University’s School of Architecture and Design and a model at Mongol Model Agency.

— Alongside your studies, you work as a model. Why did you choose CITI University?
— Because I am interested in design, I researched my options carefully. I chose CITI University for its long experience in Fashion Design education, capable lecturers and learning environment. Opportunities to connect with established Mongolian fashion brands were another reason.
— Could you describe your achievements as a student?
— I received Best Student at the Department of Fashion Design’s Floraison Fashion Show, a special award at Graduation Show 2022, second place at Winter Fashion Show 2023 and third place at Evening Gown 2024. I also received Best Design at the Aris Shilen Edlel 2025 competition jointly organised by CITI University and Uushgiin Akhui LLC.
— What clothing, colour and accessory trends do you anticipate for 2025?
— I expect leopard and tiger prints, twisted and draped dresses, minimalist loose blouses, straight blue jeans, leather skirts, textured cashmere knitwear and sports-inspired collections to be prominent. Red, particularly cherry red, may be a leading colour, expressing a vivid, energetic appearance.
— How do you develop a design and find ideas?
— I usually sketch ideas as soon as they occur, then add or remove details and refine the design. Sometimes I conduct research. Current trends, everyday events, natural phenomena and artworks can all provide ideas.
— What are your career plans?
— I believe national culture and history should have an important place in fashion design. I therefore aim to incorporate elements of our heritage into my work and introduce them through my designs.
